A fire watchman, also known as a fire watch, is responsible for preventing and detecting fires in a facility or construction site. Their duties include: Monitoring: Regularly inspecting the premises for potential fire hazards, such as flammable liquids or vapors Alerting: Sounding the alarm and notifying emergency services if a fire occurs Responding: Taking immediate action to extinguish the fire, if possible Maintaining: Ensuring fire prevention equipment is available and well-maintained Reporting: Reporting any violations Enforcing: Stopping work if necessary and restoring safe conditions Fire watchmen work in a variety of environments, including schools, hospitals, stores, industrial plants and construction sites. They must be well-trained in the use of fire-extinguishing equipment, such as extinguishers, hydrants, monitors and hose carts
